Conclusion (Study Group)

Group work is unavoidable in your future. Learning how to be part of a successful group is a skill that is marketable to future employers as well as academic institutions.

Potential study group benefits far outweigh the pitfalls and downside to unsuccessful groups especially since you can always leave a dysfunctional group. However, if you cannot find any group that suits you, you may need to question if you are not bringing to the group exactly what you think you are.

Study groups are generally endorsed by instructors and other educators as a valuable learning activity and environment. The more you practice forming and contributing to study groups the easier they will become and the more benefit you should realize from the experience.

Don’t let one negative experience turn you away from the potential that successful study groups offer.
